This is John Batchelor, conversation with my good colleague Bob Zimmerman about the space stations, the private enterprise space stations now building.

Bob picks out one design, he likes a deal vast it's think of it as a clock with three six

nine and twelve emphasized with solar panels extending it's not clear where the crew quarters would be but the

X describes the chambers moving from one to another so we can presume the

modules for crew cabins and for sustaining the space

station will be in between the tubes. Bob however identifies what we haven't

seen from the days of the Walt Disney Company

imagining the space station sometime in the 20th century. It'll be the 21st

when we get to it, which is a spinning space station. Bob comments on that.

stations to be launched near at hand. More of this later. Yes, we reported this

last week too vast is a private spaceship company. It's one of four in the United States.

The other three are consortiums. The other three are getting money from NASA to build their station.

VAST has got no government money at all.

It plans to launch its first haven one space module, single module, next year,

and immediately fly astronauts in 26 and

immediately fly four astronauts to a 30 day mission to it.

Well this week it unveiled its proposed full station concept

this is Haven 2 and Haven 2 would be multiple modules. It would start out as

four modules in a straight line and then they'd add for more to create a large

cross in space essentially with a central hub.
