Good evening and welcome to the sleepy bookshelf.

This season will be reading you a book we know you've been waiting for.

Anne of the Island, by Lucy Maud Montgomery.

We know our listeners are as unique as our novels,

and lucky for you our bookshelf is varied with lots of different types of stories to lull you into a deep sleep.

The following is a preview to give you an idea of what to expect from this season.

Anne of the island is the third book in Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery's famous series.

It was published in 1915.

It succeeds Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avon Lee, which we have previously read here on the bookshelf.

If you haven't had chance to listen to the first two books yet,

now might be a good time to check them out.

You can, of course, listen to Anne of the Island even if you haven't, but we will be revisiting

some of the characters and locations from the previous stories and there will be plot spoilers.

We'll give a thorough recap before we begin the first chapter to refresh your memory.

But for now, we'll say that this story begins with Anne heading off to

college with some of her old school friends from Avonlea. Now a young woman, Anne will face many new questions and challenges as she leaves Prince Edward Island for Nova Scotia.

She and her friends will embark on charming romances and daring

adventures. They'll get into scrapes and make lifelong memories.

Some old friends will rekindle sparks,

while others will go their separate ways.
