Good evening and welcome to the Sleepy Bookshelf.

This season, which is exclusive to premium, we have a well-known children's story for

you, Thumbelina.

We know our listeners are as unique as our stories, and lucky for you, our bookshelf is varied,

with lots of different types of works to long you into a deep sleep.

The following is a preview, to give you an idea of what to expect from this season.

Thumbelina is the story of a tiny girl no bigger than a Thumb, it's one of the hundreds

of stories collected by Scott's poet and writer Andrew Lang in his wife, Lunora Blanche

Allen.

Together, they compiled 12 color-based fairy books.

This tale appears in the yellow fairy book, published in 1894.

Our tale follows the adventures of little Thumbelina.

A woman wishes for a small daughter one day, and is given Thumbelina whom she loves as

her own.

But the girl is snatched from her home by a toad, who wants Thumbelina to marry her son.

Thumbelina escapes with the help of some friendly fish, but she soon snatched up again, this

time by a giant beetle.

She escapes once more and finds a kind field mouse to spend the winter with.

There in the forest, she nurses a frozen bird back to health.

Where will he lead her when the snow melts?
