During the month of April we'll be reading The Enchanted April by British author Elizabeth

True to its name, The Enchanted April is a story about how a single month can change

the course of a person's life.

To sing an advertisement in a local newspaper, two thirty-something women decide on a whim

to rent a small, medieval castle together in Italy for a month.

Hoping to share costs, they find a young, socialite and an elderly widow to join them on holiday.

In Italy, the four women have a chance to break free of the confines of everyday life,

making a break from marriages, lovers, families and the pressures of society.

Their new found freedom awakens different passions in each of them that they haven't

felt in many years.

The book first published in 1922 was inspired by the author's own holiday on the Italian

Riviera.

Elizabeth von Arnum writes with her characteristic sharp wit as she dives into the internal

worlds of four very different women in a moment of exploration and discovery.
