On the afternoon of September 30, 2019, a woman walked into the Anchorage Police Department

with something she needed to turn in.

It was a small SD memory card, the kind you would typically find in a camera or a phone.

Someone had handwritten a label on it, which read Homicide at Midtown Marriott.

The woman told officers she had found the card lying on the ground near a grocery store

parking lot in Anchorage's Fairview neighborhood.

She said she'd looked at what was on it, and that what she had seen had disturbed

her enough to bring it to police immediately.

Detectives eventually loaded the card.

It contained 39 photographs and 12 videos. What they saw in them

was a naked woman lying on the floor of what appeared to be a hotel room. She was on her back.
