Civitas Institute about the history of presidents challenging the courts. In particular, this is

Lincoln being challenged by Roger Toney, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Very early, April 1861, just after Sumter Tragedy.

It was an issue of a man who was leading a rebellion in Baltimore, so told.

However, Justice Taney said, he must be delivered to me, habeas corpus, by the general who arrested him.

The general refused.

Justice Tawny then sent the request to Lincoln.

This is April 1861 at the beginning of the massive tragedy of the Civil War that's still with us.

But this is also the Bozberg analogy of the present confrontation between POTUS and eventually Scotus about the Venezuelans deported to El Salvador over a weekend recent.
