The Northwest Passage, Hampton explains, a most important detail of the voyage was to find

the Northwest Passage, to pass into the Pacific, go north, and find a way through to back

to the Atlantic. The reason that they thought this was possible was based on an observation

that does not stand up to reason two centuries later. However, I do note that the concern

for Northwest Passage could be at hand. We're all
