This is John Bachelor. I speak with my good colleague Bob Zimmerman of Behind the Black about

Helicopters of Mars being designed right now, Bob says, and the target zones include some of the

most spectacular landscapes on the surface of Mars,

deep craters or ridges or parts of the landscape that we can only guess at and putting a rover down would be very difficult because of the terrain.

But a helicopter and Bob talks about what it'll probably look like, although it's designing it now,

there probably may many versions, flying Mars with drones and helicopters,

the future, immediately. Here's Bob.

It'll be more like a drone.

You know, think a helicopter has one prop at the top

with helicopters going around.

Drones, you know, have multiple ones around the prop. is going to

around. Drones, you know, have multiple ones around the perimeter. It's going to probably be more like that, but it's going to need more lifting capability

because it can be bigger with more equipment on it.

And that's the technical stuff that's got to be figured out right now.
