This is John Batchel, Conversation King Charles Report with Gregory Copley. I learned that the king's private personal residence for many years has been High Grove House in Gloucester.

It is an old and revered address that apparently the king has restored to its glory.

However, the keen thing here is the gardening.

I'm a gardener.

The king's a gardener.

He has gardeners, and Gregory explains he's driven them to distractions,

so there's a lot of turnover in his gardening.

It is said to be an English garden.

It looks pretty organized to me with trimmed hedges, like a wall, low wall, and a walkway,

borrowing a lot from the French.

It looks like a sundial in the middle of it, and he allows the ivy or is that wisteria.

You know, it might be wisteria to climb on the side of the house, which, of course, is damaging to the

stone and the windows when it gets in there, but the house has been there for several

hundred years, I imagine, so it'll survive.

and he brought it from a state of ruin to perfection now where people can go and visit the gardens

and the like, and it is incredibly beautiful

and he's had a staff there of gardeners like eight or nine gardeners at any one time and they

they have been working on this heavily and if you think, you're nice to have eight or nine gardeners

working around your home,
