Lance Gatling in Tokyo, the report on Reuters of a very large number of ships. Some mention

as many as 90. PLA Navy moving in and around Taiwan. What does this mean?

Why are they doing this? No easy answer. Lance looks at the size of the fleet, looks at the threat

to Taiwan, and concludes more of this tonight, from Tokyo. I believe that the government does not, in fact, think that this immediately presages any

kinetic interoperation, as the term has come to be known as shooting at each other.

The PLA Navy has a lot of ships in the water,

the Navy and the Coast Guard and the other fisheries and everything, some 90 ships or so.

So certainly there are some self-defense force vessels and aircraft submarines that are monitoring this very closely, trying to learn.
