This is John Batcher. What follows is an excerpt from a conversation with Victor Davis Hansen of the Hoover Institution about the Red Sea and the Huthies salvowing into shipping the cutback, the severe cutback in shipping from 73 a day to under 50 a day and

plunging the cutback in revenue for Cairo the increased shipping rates around the Cape of Good Hope, the insurance

rates leading to not only supply chain problems but inflation in Europe and

perhaps worldwide. All of this, driven by Iran supplying the Huthies

who are salveying the missiles and the drones into the Red Sea.

So in conversation, Victor recommends an embargo. I ask does that mean a blockade?

Because the US Navy can blockade Iran, oil in, oil out, any shipping whatsoever, not reach Iran's ports.

So Victor answers the possibility of embargo, the possibility of a blockade. Here's Victor Davis Hanson of the Hoover Institution.

That's another question because unfortunately one of the drawbacks of the Biden administration's policy is to have brought China together

with Russia and Iran to a lesser extent countries like North Korea or Turkey.

So when we say we're going to sanction oil the way that the Trump administration did, there wasn't that hostility from Russia and China toward us or they weren't in was completely unpredictable and somewhat dangerous.

So they listened to him.

Now they feel that we are predictable and not going to act.

They're much closer together a new axis of evil so to speak.

And if we sanction oil, we're going to have to make a decision on whether we're

going to let Iranian

tankers or Russian bound or Chinese bound or North Korean bound commerce to

leave the Iranian shores and ports.

I'm not sure we, it would work if we didn't and that would cause a whole new

dilemma. What do you do when the Chinese send a tanker in and it's trying to buy

Iranian oil.
