This is John Bachelor speaking with John, about his peace in the Daily Telegraph about the

Gaza War.

I asked John if it was realistic at this point in the contest for Israel to maintain its

war aim of dismantling, destroying, ending Hamas.

John's answer was straightforward.

Sure, I think it is. I think the, just as one example, I don't think Israel should leave

Gaza until there's no tunnel standing. I mean, the amount of effort that Hamas put in

those tunnels, had it been put into economic development

might have led to a different Gaza but if you walk away from the Gaza strip with

those tunnels or a substantial part of them still in place.

As I say, it just renders the whole thing meaningless because Hamas will be back and they'll rebuild the tunnels.

Until they're condensed, there is no future for for Hamas there will be a future.
