This is John Batchelor, conversation with colleague David Diyud, the report that Egypt and Jordan will share governance in Gaza after the war while it's rebuilt, cleaned up and rebuilt.

What does this mean for Israel, for the region?

David poses some very hard questions to answer, especially with the expectation that Hamas will linger on underground

in and around the Gaza Strip.

I could see them very well trying to stabilize Gaza.

Now what that looks like on the ground, that'll, you know, affect them domestically.

There are questions to consider. I mean, preventing Hamas from

returning will require the use of force. How much political capital will either Cici or King Abdullah

the second be burning if they have to send in Jordanian troops or Egyptian troops to kill Palestinian militants. Is that something

they're willing to do? Now, you know, that's kind of weighing on the other end of the other

side of the ledger. Does this look like as much as these two countries have an interest in

stability? And again, yes, I think they have an interest in a strong and stable

Israel. They also can't be perceived as acting as Israel's policemen. They also can't be perceived

as liquidating the Palestinian cause in Israel's favor or at all. So there is kind of the way,

they're going to have to weigh that the impact of that perception against the tangible benefits they're going to get from stabilizing Gaza.
