This is John Batchelor from a longer conversation with my colleague Bill Rajov, the Foundation for the Defense of Democracy, about the Pentagon announcement of two attacks countering the IRGC in Syria.

The first on October 26, 27, answered by two F-16 striking into Syria against a depot, the second November 8 to 9th striking in Syria against a depot.

Both depots said to be associated with the IRGC.

The larger matter is what about the huthi attacks? What about the threat of Hezbollah in Lebanon?

Bill responds by puzzling if the Pentagon's messaging is getting through to Tehran.

Yeah, the messaging from US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is it's very muddled. On one hand he's

warning the Iranians and their militias to stop attacking US bases but on the

other hand so he's going for a deterrence effect. But on the other hand, he's basically

pleading with them to not launch these attacks and says the U.S. does not seek escalation. Now it took 19 attacks by the

militias for the US to respond once and then 22 more attacks for the US

military to respond again.
