This is John Bachelor, speaking with Anatoly Zach of the Russian Space Web on Hotel Mars.

I asked about the story, the rumor, that the Russian space probe to the moon, meaning

to land softly, had crashed because of haste, because of competition, because of the Indian

space probe.

Anatoly answered very carefully, but revelatory, of the Russian space program today, Ross Cosmos,

the most famous man space program in history.

It will last for thousands of years as the pioneer, but when it comes to executing lunar

probes or planetary probes, there are accidents, and there are also bad decisions.

Yes, at this point, it's only a rumor.

There is absolutely no confirmation, and there is no evidence, direct evidence.

There are no documents, there is no sign letter, whereas they say, well, we have to land

there.

However, that said, let's put it this way.

The fact that Indian spacecraft and the Russian spacecraft ended up in a lunar orbit at the

same time is a coincidence.

Like I said, the lunar 25 has been in development for many, many years, and so it's just ended

up in this same launch window, so it was very little option for the Ross Cosmos to launch

during this window or wait for another year, and they did.
