Conference of President's major American Jewish organizations. I begin with a tribute to our mutual friend and colleague and ally, Dory Gold, who's passed away at the age of 71.

Dory from the U.S. held important positions of the Israeli diplomacy corps,

Director General of the Foreign Ministry, and UN ambassador.

Malcolm Dory was a hero.

In addition to that, he was a man who set up a think tank that's vital to the defense of Israel and the region.

Your memories of Dory, Malcolm. Good evening to you.

Good evening to you, John, and to Thadius. It is very sad today. I am very sad, certainly, that we lost Dory, who has been battling an illness for

in recent months. He was more than all the things that you mentioned, which are his

significant achievements. He was a great friend of this program, appeared here often, liked

doing it, and was a friend of mine for decades through his

ambassadorships, his director generalship of the foreign ministry, his other

positions, and of course his work in establishing the JCPA.

And he served as a close advisor to Netanyan, but also to many others and was respected both by American officials at the UN and, of course, widely in Israel.

He, I think, bridged different sectors, although he was identified very closely with the prime minister and was the architect

of the idea of defensible borders, which I think today is as relevant as it was when he first

proposed it.

It leaves a void.

There aren't many people who had his intellect, his personality, its willingness to talk and to share and to engage.

And I hope people will properly memorialize him and remember him.
