Summary

For this month's second Britainology, Milo makes Nate watch season 1, episode 1 of the Channel 4 teen comedy/drama 'Skins.' Nicholas Hoult is in demon twink mode causing chaos all around flip-phone-era Bristol c. 2007, and Nate marvels at the fact that a show like this would have been much harder to make for network TV in the US back in those days. Hello, trash future listeners. Please enjoy this preview of our most recent premium Britonology episode,

in which we discussed the 2000s teen dromedy series Skins. Also, just FYI, we've unlocked a

0:12.7

Britonology episode to the $5 tier, in which we watched a Dave Courtney movie, and we've also

0:17.9

unlocked our discussion of the Tom Hardy film Legend to the free feed.

0:21.7

Both of those episodes are linked in the show notes. Thanks again for being a trash future listener

0:25.6

and I hope you enjoy. We've spoken about this a lot on the show, but like Britain is a low stakes

0:30.0

country and that is what is very much comes across in this show. I mean, I remember like, again,

0:34.7

being at a sixth form college, I remember they were definitely like some, some of my friends were, like, weed guys. And they were constantly having,

0:41.1

like, minor run-ins with the cops because they smoked so much weed and were always smoking

0:45.7

it on the street. But, like, nothing ever, I mean, you know, preface, they were white, right?

0:50.4

But, like, nothing ever happened because, like, Britain,, right? Like it's just kind of like, they would always like, they'd see the cops coming and

0:57.0

they'd just like flick the spliff away and it's like, what are you going to do?

0:59.8

And the cops were always like, well, I'll get you next time.

1:02.9

I had friends.

1:03.7

I'm amazed they didn't get caught more often.

1:06.4

But like I had friends who they decided to quit the swim club that we were part of and

1:12.2

swim for a different club even though they were going to be on the same high school team.

1:15.7

And that may not make sense to European listeners, but basically the club was like a year

1:19.0

round thing. It was affiliated with United States swimming. But the high school team was just if you

1:23.6

attended the high school. So, you know, you could, you could swim on a different club in the

1:27.1

off season or in the club season and then compete for your high school team. And that's what

1:31.8

these kids opted to do because it was cheaper and they didn't like the coach. And I realized
