The effect that Gaza had on the election is not allowed to be acknowledged, except when you want to punish Arab Americans.

So, you know, anytime Trump says something about the Middle East that is, you know, Trumpian in some way, like, oh, we got to build some beachfront property in Gaza.

You know, there will always be an army of liberals, and there will be for the next four years to say,

oh, hope the people in Dearborn, Michigan feel good about this. Yeah, I saw one of the guys from the

Lincoln Project, you know, that definitely not discredited outfit whose entire raison d'etra was,

was vindicated by the November result. Yeah, he was complaining about like Jill Stein voters in Michigan, which like, that's the one I was thinking. The math doesn't even work. Like it's not there weren't even enough Jill Stein voters in Michigan. It's ridiculous if we accepted the logic. But and not that I was expecting these people to be at the vanguard of the resistance this time around, but it is disappointing just the actual like eagerness, the happiness to not just like throw

up their hands at it, but also to, you know, implicitly take pleasure and the suffering

that is to come.

And I've been a little frustrated watching pretty much any debate about any issue in the United States, you know, for pretty much my entire life, always circling back to, well, what do you think's going to happen when the Republicans get in? And, you know, Gaza put this in really sharp relief. It took it to an almost self-parodic extreme, where it's like

people who just wanted to talk about this issue would constantly come up against people saying,

well, hey, you can have 70,000 dead, or you can have 2 million dead. What do you want? And if I have

one New Year's resolution that I would like to give to my brothers and sisters down south,

it would be find a way to talk about these issues that doesn't just circle back to, will it

help or hurt the Dems in four years? There have to be other ways to have political conversations.

Other other criterion for political engagement, certainly. I mean, we're going to have a number of years to discuss

what I can only assume will be the, you know, nonstop cavalcade of the disgusting and the despicable

out of the Trump presidency. And of course, as I think many of us predicted, you know, he's begun

his presidency, his second presidency very much like he began his first one with his raft, the very aggressive executive orders, many of which will probably be subject to court

challenges. Obviously, the position of conservatives on the Supreme Court is a lot stronger,
