And it's about not just the greatest night in pop, probably the greatest night in entertainment.

Culture.

In philanthropy.

History.

It is the night that the We Are the World video was recorded.

Now, folks, I know what you're thinking.

We Are the World.

That stupid shit novelty video, that vanity project for Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson.

That thing whose only legacy is to be a shorthand for cloying sentimentality and celebrity

philanthropic nonsense.

That, if you think about it, it's because of those shots of Bob Dylan looking really

uncomfortable and sort of mumbling instead of singing.

But, you know, just like that bowl of spaghetti in the flash, history is actually not linear

because what if I told you that Lionel Richie and a lot of other people actually do think

that this was the greatest night in pop. This documentary, you know, what can I tell you? It's absolutely

ridiculous. It's also pretty entertaining. It's entertaining on a camp level. Everything that

everybody says in it is funny, but also, you know, much like the recent Beatles documentary

Get Back, which I imagine was probably one of the inspirations for it. You know, they busted open
