So the short pitch for this one is it's die hard on an airplane and John McLean is the president.

Before we get into this movie, I was reminded of my favorite scene in any movie.

It's from 1995's Batman Forever.

And you'll recall, Luke, there's a scene in that when after the Ed Begley

Jr. character has been killed and made to look like a suicide by the riddler, Bruce Wayne,

the head of Wayne Enterprises, is surveying the scene. And he says to his assistant, I want his

family to have full benefits. And the assistant says, but benefits aren't in his contracts.

And Bruce Wayne says, I know, full benefits. And I love that scene because, you know, if you thought

that politics only started to infest big budget action movies kind of after 9-11, it's a choice to

write that line. It is funny, you know, like we're watching Air Force One, watching so many of the movies we watch for

this podcast.

I think it was just hitting both of us.

You watch hundreds of movies in this particular kind of close reading way that we do.

And it really hits you how like a huge number of the movies that are made are kind of

fundamentally just the same movie. Like once you strip away the layers, one of the movies that are made are kind of fundamentally just the same movie.
