We haven't seen each other in a little bit because I was in

Kalamazoo, Michigan at a dog show, believe it or not. Would you believe that I actually know

Kalamazoo pretty well? Kalamazoo? Been there many times. What brought you to Kalamazoo? My parents are

medievalists and it has long been home to one of the big medieval studies conferences.

So I have seen the vistas of Kalamazoo, Michigan many times.

Wow.

Well, I saw the something or other dog show there, and I saw the Kalamazoo 10 movie theater,

a pleasingly junkie movie theater where I saw Spider-Man across the Spider-verse.

Now, when you see you went to a dog show, my sole knowledge of what a dog show is like

comes from the movie Best in Show. Like, it comes from Christopher Gast. Literally, everyone I've said

this to has said, oh, like Best in Show. Well, it's quite a bit like that movie. I mean, the one in the movie looks a little

bit higher budget than I, the one I went to. But I mean, so it's competitive. Yeah, it's competitive.

And the dogs, are they competing based on like, like, are they, you know, they're like lifting weights,

they're like racing? Yeah, swimsuit competition. They all have to say what they would do with a million dollars if they had it and they all say give it a charity. But is it like, are the dogs competing on aesthetics or they competing on like endurance and like?

Well, I mean, it varies. There are some aesthetic competitions. They don't race, at least not the ones that I saw.

But there are some like, you know, do they walk in a circle good? I mean, my, my dog was in a, like a nosework

competition. Well, your dog was competing? Yeah, in a nosework competition. This is, this is my
