Oh, The This is hell.

pretending to know what I'm talking about since 1996. This is hell. And today I will be pretending I know something, well, anything

about home building, renovations or even maintenance of a residence

like I always do when a contractor comes to my home thinking that they cannot

tell how little I know when in reality they all tell me I have no idea what I'm

talking about and it's clear to them and that's why they would rather talk to my

girlfriend who is far more knowledgeable about things like know, tools and carpentry in the industries that contribute

to and play a role in home building.

Our guest today is Dan Colbert, co-author along with Christopher Bailey, Michael Mainz, and Emily Matrim of Pretty Good House, a guide to creating better homes.

So yesterday we talked about the unhoused and today we'll talk about

making pretty good homes. Dan has been a building contractor in Portland, Maine

for 20 years and a carpenter for 35 and we have all sorts of listeners in Portland, Maine including Chris

over at the Manor, the folks right over at the Ballard and the folks at Wild Folk Farms,

and for the past 10 years has been moderator
