Welcome. Welcome everybody to the Untold Story podcast. I'm Martha McCallum, and I'm very pleased to be joined today by Senator Mark Wayne Mullen of Oklahoma. He was sworn in in 2023 as a senator following 10 years of service to Oklahoma

and the U.S. House of Representatives. He's a lifelong Oklahomaan and Senator. It's great to have you

with us. Thank you very much for being here. Martha, thanks for having me on. I was excited about it.

Well, I know you had fun at the inauguration because I saw a great picture of you dancing with one of your daughters.

Tell us about your family because I like to start the untold story with some personal background.

Well, so my wife and I are high school, junior high and elementary sweethearts.

In third grade, I'm not joking when Ihearts. In third grade, I'm not joking

when I say this. In third grade, I got in trouble because I passed her a note and asked her if she wanted

to make babies. Now, I'm the youngest of seven, and I grew up on a ranch. So I don't actually

understood all the repercussions of that, but I do understand the basics of it.

I'm not sure she did.

And I joke because the note got taken away and I got in trouble back then, you know, you got swats in school.

And I do remember taking a couple of swats over that one.

But I joke and I say she must have checked yes because we have six wonderful kids.

And three came natural and three we chose.

So what that means is we have three biological kids and three adopted kids.
