Summary

In debates the opponents often talk past each other because (1) there are various explanations within each camp and (2) the terms are not clearly defined. Today's message is an appeal to Dr. White to define some of our terms and our views of the basics so that we can be more fruitful in our discussion in a couple of weeks.

Hello and welcome to the pre-debat show. I figure they have pre-game shows. They might as well have a pre-debat show. And what better time to do that than now? When we're maybe what three weeks out, less than three weeks out, I'm going to put this on a podcast too to explain a little bit more of my feelings and emotions about this debate.

0:39.9

But really the purpose of this particular podcast and YouTube video, I'm doing both at the same time simultaneous.

0:46.8

And excuse any noise that you may hear in the background.

0:50.0

I am a kind of a side room of a church that's let me use this room.

0:55.7

And sometimes they have events next door,

0:58.4

and I can't ever know when they're going to be here and when they're not.

1:01.6

And I'll record when I can.

1:03.0

So sometimes there's other noises that are taking place in the building at the same time.

1:07.4

So forgive me if there's interruptions.

But the reason for this particular

1:12.9

broadcast is to talk to Dr. White in specific about defining our terms and understanding

1:20.6

each other because one of the, I guess, difficulties that I'm having right now is trying to narrow down what it is I need to talk about with regard to Romans 9 because there's a tendency to be able to understand that your opponent, at least your opponent, if not the audience in general, is going to have at least a general working knowledge of where

1:45.7

you're coming from and understanding your perspective. And I know Dr. White has said several times

1:51.1

that he didn't understand my perspective or that he didn't know what it was. And even after

1:55.7

I referred him to the statement of faith, there were still comments that he still didn't seem to know where I was

2:01.7

coming from. In his most recent dividing line program, he referred to, I think it was Brian

2:07.2

Abashano, who, you know, I don't know all that well. I've just been introduced to him more

2:12.1

recently. He is not a Baptist traditionalist for my understanding. However, I do appreciate and agree with much of

2:18.3

his works, especially with in regard to Acts 1348 was really where I hadn't engaged with him.

2:25.9

But I know he mentioned about trying to go buy one of those books, as if that was going to get

2:30.6

a perfect perspective of my position, which it may or may not.

2:35.5

I'm not real familiar with all of Dr. Abashano's work, but I know that he's not a typical Southern Baptist non-Calvinist.
