Does God hate the sin but love the sinner?

Or is there a sense in which God really does hate sinners?

Today we're going to talk about what the cross and God's love and hate of humanity is really all about.

Let's dive in.

So I wrote this little orange book.

It got some publicity in a few different places. One local place where it got publicity was in the Birmingham News, where I pastor. And the newspaper writer took a quote from the book. This is what this is what the article said. He said, while it's a common pulpit truism that God hates sin but loves

the sinner, Platt argues that God hates sinners. It's a quote taken from the book, but the

article just moves on at that point. So people start emailing me. Church members, pastor, you

believe God hates sinners.

People in the city email me not so kindly.

You preaching hatred there.

This is one of those places where I, like many of you, can find yourself in a bit of trouble

for quoting the Bible.
