This is a CBSI and the World. I'm John Bachelor. The Moon Program. Once upon a time, it was the Soviet Moon Program. that it was the American moon program now it is

the People's Republic of China moon program that is of great interest what is the

mission where is the where is it going developing heavy lift boosters and experimenting in

low-Earth orbit?

Gordon Chang, I had Gordon G Chang is with me as my colleague and co-host and

we welcome our guide on the Russian now Chinese space program,

Rick Fisher of the International Assessment and Strategy Center.

Rick, you note that the Chinese have a plan for a two or three stage mission to the moon, not

in one shot the way Apollo 11 were work but in several launches. How can that be used for the

Chinese military program? We know for the civilian program it would be

I recently ran across an article in China's Journal of deep space exploration.

It is from the two 2023 volume, I believe, issue number five in which engineers from the China Academy of Space Launch

technology the guys that design their space launch vehicles compared to

architectures for getting to the moon. The first architecture in my opinion involves the use of the long March 9 which is to eventually be a fully reusable two-stage

super heavy lift SLV comparable to the SpaceX Starship.

And the article describes how, it describes the positive economics,

but also the complexity of using that

Starship like SLB. Secondly, they the authors offer a different architecture one that involves first placing a small space station at the Earth Moon Lagrangian.

1. This would be right between the Earth and the moon,

an equal sort of gravitational pull point that would allow that space station

to follow the Moon's rotation around the Earth.
