This is John Batchel. Yet another Chinese defense minister replaced accusations of corruption.

Gordon Chang and I speak to our colleague Rick Fisher of the International Assessment and Strategy Center.

How to interpret this. A man installed as recently as December of 23, an admiral said to be a very, very sophisticated defender of the South China

Island fortified zone, therefore the front line of the aggression against its neighbors, including

Taiwan, now accused of corruption and gone from the chair, just like his predecessor, just like his admirals in the fleet,

generals in the Air Force, generals in the Army.

It doesn't seem to concern the Chinese Communist Party, and Rick explains why here

and how they play a very strange game.

corruption. More of this tonight. Yes, John. Taking a high position in the people's liberation

or a commanding position in the People's Liberation Army is essentially a, you are shooting craps with your life.

You might get away with it.

You might be able to retire with all of the money you have salted away in Switzerland, with family members placed in in California or England.

It's a huge gamble.

You might have to go to war.

You might be attacked and die.

This is, but for the Chinese Communist Party, which creates and maintains and promotes

this fantastically cruel system, the ultimate prize is global domination.

And they are committed to that.

And so they are also committed to a military structure that wastes people, talent, in a sense, opportunities as well.
