Recently, news came that a tanker filled with Russian crude oil left the

Petersburg area, the Baltic Sea and traveling with the intention of reaching

China. What was significant about this report following it on transponder is

that when it reached the open sea past Norway, rather than turn port side to

proceed down Europe, Africa around it across the Indian Ocean to China, it

turned starboard right side to go over the Arctic to China. Why that matters is

the Arctic Council. Right now, the Arctic 5 Canada Denmark, Norway, Russia and

the United States are all NATO members except Russia. Those are the literal

states on the Arctic. So at this point, you would need to ask the logic of why

China is elbowing its way in. With money, influence, spying, I welcome Gordon

Chang. At Gordon G. Chang, writing recently at Gatestone Institute, to what we

know about China, bullying its way to the table, the Arctic nations. Gordon, a
