This is CBS, I am the world. Behind the Black, Bob Zimmerman is here to take us to

Venus, my favorite morning star when winter comes spring. It's always right up above and I

can walk to it. Knowing spring is on its way, but Bob is taking us all the way to Venus down below the clouds to

the surface of Venus and this looks like an active planet Bob is that an

understatement good evening. Good evening, John.

There was a report this week, a new paper published that confirmed a paper from last year.

Last year, I reported this there was a

researchers that looked at archival data from the Magellan

Orbiter from 90 and 92 it made basically it made two radar surveys of the surface of the planet through the clouds and it did it twice in 90 and then 92.

And what those researchers did in 23 what they look compared images

radar images from at certain locations and they detected changes that look like

lava flows so they announced last year that they have evidence of active volcanism that took

place sometime between 90 and 92 on Venus.

Well this new report this week did the same thing with that archival data but looked at a different

two different places on Venus so this brings the numbers up to about four

different places where they saw in the data a change over two years which

indicates laconism taking place on these active volcanism. Now this is

there had been early reports almost three decades ago from not only from

Magellan but from the pioneer orbiter that went around Venus that atmospheric sulfur increased in the atmosphere which suggested

volcanism as well and so these reports now are just adding weight to the

belief that like the earth and Venus remember is about the same that like the earth and Venus

remember is about the same size of the earth
