Summary

This week we’re praying peace over our kids, and this seems especially relevant considering  the state of our world today. Peace for our kids means they are not consumed with fear and worry, but instead live filled with the peace of God which transcends all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

We will spend a few minutes in Psalm 9 considering King David’s formula for living in peace. We’ll see how even in the turmoil he so often faced, he always came to the Lord with (1) praise, (2) perspective on God’s bigger picture, and (3) a healthy memory for God’s past faithfulness in his life.

It’s all about peace on Pardon the Mess today—so share it with a friend!

Glad you're praying with us this week.

We are praying for our kids to have peace. And,

0:22.3

oh, do we need that? Definitely in the world that we're living in now. And so let's just start

0:26.6

with Philippians 4-7. That's the verse in the prayer journal. And the peace of God, which transcends

0:31.5

all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. And that will is a

0:37.2

critical word there because it's not saying

0:38.8

maybe or sometimes, but no, we have the peace of God. It transcends what we can understand and it

0:44.9

will guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus. And I think about that whole supernatural

0:49.6

piece where you see it sometimes like if someone's had like a sudden tragic loss of someone

0:55.0

around them or maybe at a funeral or you just see the way that as believers they handle

1:00.2

crisis and you think wow they they really seem to have it all together and of course none of us

1:04.4

have it all together but i do think in those instances we're seeing this peace that the lord gives

1:08.5

it transcends all understanding, that peace that helps

1:11.6

people get through the hardest of times is just from the Lord. And so I think that praying peace

1:17.4

of our kids is important. I'm going to read what I wrote in a prayer journal for you. It says,

Anxiety in Our Children is More Prevalent Than Ever, The title of a Recent Psychology Today article says

it all. Suicide rates,

1:28.4

even among children, are rising dramatically. And per that article, suicide rates and children under

1:33.1

11 have doubled in the last 10 years. Our culture and our children desperately need peace.
