Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Thursday, August 30th, 2018. This week on the Catholic Sprouts

podcast, we have been talking about prayer. On Monday, we talked about what prayer actually is.

On Tuesday, we discussed why we need to pray. Yesterday, we talked about

how we pray amid suffering. And today, we are talking about the greatest prayer that we get to

participate in, and that is the Holy Mass. Now, each week or each day would we go to Mass, we get to participate in one of the most

perfect, the most complete forms of prayer possible. So let's talk about this. Why is the Mass such a perfect prayer? Well, it's because it combines so many

amazing things. First of all, when we go to Mass, we are celebrating with a community of believers.

You're not only there with your family. you're there with all the people in your

community that also love Jesus. We support each other, we sing with each other, we hold each other's

hands during parts of the Mass. Together, we are able to pray even more beautifully. Another reason why the Mass is such a

powerful prayer is because it includes so many beautiful words from God. In the Mass, we take lots of

words directly from the Bible.

We have three or four readings, each Mass, which are words from the Bible,

and lots of the words in the consecration.

When the priest, through the power of God, transforms the bread and wine into the body and blood of Jesus,

those are also words taken directly

from the Bible. Now, these words are powerful because we believe the Bible isn't just an ordinary

book, but it is actually the Word of God, and it is still actively speaking to us today.

The final reason why the Mass is such a perfect form of prayer is because Jesus is truly,

truly there.
