Moses becomes another model of prayer.

We're in Exodus 3.

He actually implores the Lord to reveal his name. I am who I am, being itself.

And then in Exodus 33, even more profoundly,

after the sin of the golden calf,

Moses discovers the incessory power

when God reveals a new name, I will be merciful. I will be gracious. A name which the

prophets come back to again and again, for it ends up not only being Israel's only hope, but their

eternal life insurance, that God is merciful and gracious more than we ever expected, more than we

even dared to ask, that he longs to show mercy to us even more than we ever expected, more than we even dared to ask, that he longs to show

mercy to us even more than we want him to. And as you continue to see this covenant drama

through the stages of salvation history, in the old, building up to the new, you come to something

that I believe is really crucial, and that is the fulfillment of the old, building up to the new, you come to something that I believe is really crucial,

and that is the fulfillment of the old by Christ. Now, I mentioned earlier the high-priecely

prayer of Jesus, which in so many ways is a model, because it not only shows the communion

of the Father and the Son,
