I've had so many people say to me, when I have read to them the prayer of Betty Scott

Stan, which became my life prayer when I was about 12 years old, but that's so scary because

it is a total transfer of the will to God on the part of this young woman who was a guest

in our home when she was on her way to China.

Her name was Betty Scott at that time, and she went to China and married her husband John

Stan, and both of them were captured by Chinese communists and beheaded.

And Betty Scott Stan had to watch as they beheaded her husband, and then was forced to put

her neck on the chopping block.

Now you can imagine that that made a deep impression on an eight-year-old child.

She had been a guest in our home when I was about four.

I don't remember that very well, but I do remember the fact that she was there.
