0:00.0	Hey, everybody. This is Heidi St. John. Thanks for joining me. You guys have found me at off the bench.
0:05.3	And today I'm going to spend a little bit of time talking about the importance of prayer and fasting.
0:10.8	Stick around. I think you're going to be encouraged.
0:20.8	Well, I am coming to you today with a little bit different topic than I normally
0:25.8	jump into here at the show. As you guys know, I'm coming up on the last couple of days of a journey
0:32.3	that's taken me a year and a half to complete. I announced a run for Congress in February of 2021.
0:39.7	And we've been running this race hard. The Apostle Paul said that whatever we do, we should do
0:44.6	everything with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength as unto the Lord. And that's really what
0:48.5	we've been doing as we've been running this race for the United States House of Representatives.
0:52.4	We are coming into the final few days. The primaries are here in Washington state on Tuesday.
0:58.8	And I've been asking people in the area and around the country who follow this ministry and
1:03.4	who've been praying for our family to enter into a few days of prayer and fasting with us.
1:08.4	And so I wanted to talk a little bit about fasting and prayer and why it's so important.
1:12.8	And what the Bible says about it because the Bible has a lot to say about the correlation between
1:17.6	fasting and I'll get into a little bit more of that so that you understand what that means exactly
1:22.8	and prayer. And they really are a powerful combination. I want to read to you out of the book of
1:27.4	Nehemiah for just a few minutes this time. And the Lord had me for the last year in the book of
1:34.5	Nehemiah. And I read through it once I've taught on this book right for several years, teaching
1:38.5	leaders around the country how to start their own businesses or short ministries or really work
1:44.7	with volunteers. The book of Nehemiah is an incredible look into the life of a godly leader and what
1:50.7	it looks like to lead well. And so I read the book through and then I really felt like God was
1:56.4	saying read it again. So I read it again and I felt like he said one more time and I think I've
