Father God, this is an incredible moment that we're going to enter into in the history of the world.

God, it's this glimpse into one of Jesus' most difficult days,

but it gives us so much hope, so much clarity, so much instruction.

God, for the people who give me the honor of teaching them, for those Lord God that are having a really difficult season,

I pray that this would really minister to them.

And God, for those of us who are in a good season, but we have people in our lives that we know and love.

And there are a tough season. God, could we take what we learn from Jesus today and minister to them in Jesus' name we pray?

Amen. All right, here's where we're at. We're in.

When the Lord's Gisemite prayer to catch you up in Matthew, chapter 26, this is the very end of Jesus' life.

These are his final hours. He is coming to the place where he's going to die on the cross in our place for our sins.

And he has some ominous instruction. He says things like,

I will be handed over and I will be betrayed.

He knows exactly what is going to happen.

Sometimes for you and I, when we have a hard season in life,

we don't see it coming. We're caught rather suddenly or unexpectedly.

For Jesus, he knew that the purpose for his entrance into human history was ultimately to die on the cross in our place for our sins.

So he has been preparing himself for his entire life.

And he knows that every day he's getting a little bit closer to that last day.
