Let's get in the Word of God. Before the prophecy update, we're going through 1 Corinthians

chapter by chapter and verse by verse. And today we're in chapter 14 and our text will be verses 15

through 20. Pardon me, I'll have you stand. If you're able, you can follow along as I read.

Excuse me. The Apostle Paul is writing and by the Holy Spirit in verse 15 says, so what shall I do?

I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding.

I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding. Otherwise, verse 16,

when you are praising God in the spirit, how can someone else who is now put in the

position of an inquirer say, amen, to your thanksgiving, since they do not know what you are

saying?

You are giving thanks well enough, but no one else is edified.

I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you, but in the church, verse 19,

I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than 10,000 words in a tongue.

Brothers and sisters, stop thinking like children.

In regard to evil, be infants, but in your thinking, be adults.

Let's pray and we'll ask God's blessing on our understanding if you would join with me.

Loving Heavenly Father, we're so thankful to you for your word and for this portion that we have before us this morning here in your word.

Lord, would you now quiet our hearts and even focus our attention upon you and that which

you would desire to minister to us today?

Lord, we don't want any distraction to keep us from that which you have for us.

So, Lord, speak.

And when you do, speak very clearly and very simply by the Holy Spirit into our lives.
