fortune of gentrification is an outcome of the great crime of

neoliberalism a crime that destabilizes communities destroying neighborhoods

and displacing its residents into worse and worse housing and living conditions with fewer resources that tear

apart much-needed safety nuts for the marginalized, often people of color who need

them most, or so argues today's guest.

Neol liberalism and the gentrification it ushers in undermines democracy and the ability

for people to make the choices that are best for them, relegating such power to outsiders, often self-described experts from

non-profits or local institutions like universities and hospitals decide what's

best for the poor, despite not having a clue as to what the poor really need.

But there are alternatives that can bring stability.

There are other options that it can improve the lives of the poor

with greater political empowerment.

There are different ways that communities can address their distressed economies and dilapidated environments,

often made toxic by the worst of capitalist practices that put profits before people,

the value that value money more than they value humanity.
