Hey everyone, I'm Dr. Allison.

0:03.4

Today's scripture offers us a wiser way of being human as we step into the day.

0:12.0

Even if your weekend included some rest, and for many of us it didn't, the beginning of a new week can still feel heavy.

0:18.9

We often arrive here already carrying weight, mental weight,

0:22.8

emotional weight, responsibilities both unspoken and spoken. Before the day has fully begun,

0:28.2

our minds may already be rehearsing conversations, anticipating demands, or scanning for what might go

0:34.1

wrong. Scripture doesn't shame that impulse, but it does offer us a different posture,

1:35.8

inside you that cannot be managed quietly, forever, or even for today. Scripture does not ask you

1:42.7

to edit your inner life before coming to God. It assumes

1:46.4

you come as you are full, weighted, and human. From a psychological perspective, this is so

1:54.5

important. When emotional weight goes unexpressed, it doesn't disappear. It settles into the

2:00.0

body. It shows up as tension, fatigue,

2:02.7

irritability, or a vague sense of pressure that's hard to name. Many of us have learned early that

2:08.0

holding it together was safer than letting things spill out. That staying composed kept us

2:13.7

connected or acceptable, but over time self-management becomes exhausting.
