Which of course means GOP candidates are converging to Iowa a state which has a lot of evangelicals.

Yet the evangelical movement seems to have undergone a significant change

over the past few cycles.

Tim Alberta was on the panel today.

He's a staff writer for the Atlantic and now author of the

kingdom the power and the glory American evangelicals in an age of

extremism. Tim Alberta is sitting with me here now for more on both his reporting and

politics today welcome to postgame Tim thanks for being here.

Kristen this is awesome thanks for having me. It's awesome to have you here. I do want to talk about politics, but I first want to ask you about your book, again, the kingdom, the power and the glory. I'm holding it here with me, American evangelicals in an age of extremism.

Why did you want to write the book and talk about the ways in which this is very personal

for you?

You know, it's funny, I have worked in the mainstream media for you know going on two

decades now and for a long long time when I would hear and read andced and say, oh, that doesn't seem quite right.

That seems a little off.

And at the same time, having grown up in the evangelical church the son of an

evangelical pastor I would be seeing things inside the evangelical church and

their perceptions of the outside world of the secular world world, of the media world, and say,
