19 years 102 days that the average age of Liverpool's youngest ever team as they beat

Shrewsbury town to make it through to the fifth round of the FA Cup, a historic night at

Anfield that we're here to react to on the postgame podcast, right here on the

Blood Red channel. I'm Guy Clark and welcome along on a night where even more history was made as Curtis Jones just

19 years and six days old became the Red's youngest ever captain. Coming up then

Anfield where waiting to give his thoughts is the Echo's chief Liverpool writer Ian Doyle.

Well here we are at Anfield and Liverpool have got through to the fifth round of the

FA Cup by being Shrewsbury Town 1 nil in their fourth round replay here at Anfield. That sounds all pretty normal and

straightforward but as anybody's been following this story will know it's been

anything but of course because Jurgen Club wasn't here. None of were none of

his senior players were here either with the exception of James Millen was actually watching on but none of them were playing.

Basically Liverpool are on the winter break and clubs made a big deal of ensuring that his senior players are not playing any games over this next week.

And of course the FAA organized replays for this date.

And so basically what it meant is that Liverpool fielded a under 23 team, or in effect actually it wasn't more of an under 20 team given that the average

age of the of the side was 19 years and 102 days which is the youngest ever

Liverpool team to ever take to a field and they won by one goal to nil and it has to be
