Hey, this is John Gordon with your positive mindset Monday. So years ago, I was at a meeting with

Pepperidge Farm. I was speaking there. And while I was there, the president was on stage,

giving out awards. And he showed this huge, gigantic picture of this incredible display that was in a grocery store of Pepperidge Farms.

And this display took over the entire aisle, the entire almost store.

It was massive.

And the president said this rookie salesperson was able to get this display in that store

because she didn't know enough to know that doesn't happen.

You're not supposed to ask for that, but she did.

She thought like a rookie.

And because she believed it was possible and asked, she got a yes.

So often we have the curse of experience that longs for the good old days, that

complains about the way things are, that are unadaptable to change, that believes the no

is coming so doesn't even ask for a yes. But the rookie asked for a yes. The rookie believes

anything is possible. The rookie puts their head down, works hard, and believes that success can

happen at any time because they don't know about the good old days. They're creating their good

old days right now. The key is to think like a rookie. Yes, if you have experience and knowledge,

that is awesome. That is a blessing.

But think like a rookie, believe that anything is possible, and we're into that, return

to that mindset when you truly believe that success can happen at any time and that all you have to do is ask.

And if you ask, you just might get a yes and a gigantic

display in a grocery store that's not supposed to happen. But because you ask for it, they say yes.
