Hey, this is John Gordon with your positive leadership tip. So people often ask me, why does

positive leadership matter, John? Why not traditional leadership? What's so special about

positive leadership? Well, positive leadership is the competitive advantage. Being positive

doesn't just make you better. It makes everyone

around you better. We know that optimist because they see a brighter and better future.

They're able to take the actions necessary to create it. Positive leaders have a vision for the

road ahead. They see what is possible and they rally their teams towards it.

Pessimists do not change the world.

Throughout history, it's the positive leaders, the believers, the dreamers, the doers that

made the greatest impact, that transformed teams and organizations, that created technology,

that changed our entire world, our entire planet, all because of leadership.

I think of Alan Malaley and how he turned around Ford many years ago when they were losing

$14 billion.

One of the greatest leadership feats in history was Alan turning around that company.

And he defined his leadership style as positive

leadership. It didn't mean he ignored reality. Positive leaders don't ignore reality. But they

glasses. It's knowing that you have the power to overcome the thorns. There's a belief there.

There's a mindset of overcoming, of having resilience and grit and bouncing back from adversity.
