In 1958, a strange series of events began to occur in the house of a Catholic family named

the Hermann's in Seaford, New York. Objects started to move, items were smashed, and strangely, the caps of bottles started to pop off.

The family was experiencing poltergeist phenomena.

And because the bottle caps were popping off, the poltergeist was reportedly named Hopper.

This proved to be one of the most pivotal

poltergeist cases in hundreds of years. So what was responsible for what the

Hermann's were experiencing? Why was this poltergeist case so pivotal?

And what did researchers discover?

Objects move around their house, strange noises like raps or knocking sounds may happen,

and even weirder things can take place.

Historically, it's been assumed that spirits were responsible for these phenomena.

In fact that's what the term poltergeist which comes from German roots means.
