In 1982 the United States was shocked when seven people suddenly died in Chicago.

At first the deaths were not connected but it was soon learned

that each victim had taken the painkiller extra strength Tylenol just before they

died and someone had tampered with the Tylenol making these deaths murders.

Why had the Tylenol killed them?

Who was responsible?

And how did this series of tragic deaths change America permanently?

That's what we'll be talking about on this episode of Jimmy Yakin's mysterious world.

Today's mystery is a true crime story, but unlike some of the true crime stories we cover, people did die in this incident.

However, as always, we will be keeping things clinical, so we won't be going into sensationalistic

detail about how they suffered, though we will be hearing some audio clips from people

who are eyewitnesses at the time.

We'll cover the murders themselves quickly in just a few minutes

at the beginning of the episode and then things will proceed at a lower, slower key. But sensitive

listeners and parents with young or sensitive children should be aware of this before we began.
