Hello and welcome to the Fire and Nordshare Venetian Chef Podcast, and we'd like to get right

into it.

And what we're going to get into today is a fight that you may not have been following

very clearly, but which is very, very important.

It is a highly politicized battle on Capitol Hill, the truth be told, highly politicized

battles of the only kind they actually have on Capitol Hill.

And it's over US defense policy and defense spending.

And the fight is going on on two fronts.

And the first front is a debate over passing the yearly NDAA that stands for the National

Defense Authorization Act, which sets military spending levels for the coming year.

And the second front concerns a Republican Senator's decision to block Senate confirmation

of military promotions until the Biden Pentagon changes its policy on abortion.

So we're having a very political fight about defense spending.

And for the last few weeks, we have heard Democrats accuse Republicans of politicizing what

should be the non-political issue of defending the United States.

It's those Republicans there.

This should be a non-political non-partisan issue, we obviously, we need to defend the

United States and Republicans are injecting politics into this.

Some of the ways that Republicans have done this is they question the need for Pentagon

policies for transgender soldiers for various types of diversity programs.

And some have focused on that abortion policy, which came about after the DOBS decision,

which ended Roe v. Wade.
