Hello and welcome to the Slate Political Gab Fest for Thursday, August 16th, the Unhinged Me Now edition.

0:13.5

I'm Emily Bazelon in basically for David Plotz, who is off.

0:17.9

I'm not sure where David is.

0:18.8

Maybe he's in Vermont.

0:19.8

Anyway, never fear. I am here with

0:22.4

John Dickerson of CBS this morning. Hey, John. Hi. And Kirsten Powers from CNN, whose title I forgot to

0:29.2

ask before we started. Kirsten, what's your official title? A political analyst. Excellent.

0:34.1

Thanks for having me. Oh, we're so glad you're here. On this week's show, we have three topics, as usual for you, followed by cocktail chatter. First topic. Trump has been dueling this week with his former aide, Omarosa, Managult Newman. She's teasing her book. He's getting mad at her. There's confirmed discussion of non-disclosure agreements to work in the White House in the air.

1:02.9

Our second topic will be the primary election results this week, which saw winners among Republicans who closely embraced Donald Trump.

1:13.1

And a different story from Democrats.

1:15.6

The most interesting part to me was about minority candidates, especially African Americans,

1:20.5

winning in majority white districts, including in my home state of Connecticut.

1:24.6

And our third topic, a star feminist philosopher at NYU has been found

1:29.3

to have sexually harassed a male graduate. That finding comes from NYU. And this is a story about

1:35.8

Title IX, the law that is supposed to create gender equality in education settings, really turning

1:41.1

Title IX on its head. And so we'll talk about that case and about the

1:45.6

support for this philosopher from other feminist academics. And of course, we'll have cocktail

1:50.7

chatter. Omarosa Managult Newman is on every single talk show in the world, flogging tapes that

1:58.3

she has. She's done, I would say, like a brilliant job of teasing her book

2:02.5

and separating out these tapes into different dollops of news. Clearly, she knows what she's doing
