Hello and welcome to this late political gab fest for Friday, June 6th.

I'm John Dickerson here with Emily Bazelon and David Plotz.

Today our first topic will be Barack Obama, then Hillary Clinton, then John McCain,

and we will end as always with cocktail chatter.

So it's over. Emily, your thoughts.

Hooray. It looked like it was going to drag on for another week on Tuesday night.

And it just felt to me that, you know, after the South Dakota and Montana primaries,

that Clinton just gave the wrong speech.

And it started off on the right note. She commended him.

She was very respectful. And then I just felt my heart sinking as she continued to talk about

herself as the better candidate and her weird idea that she won the popular vote. But, you know,

then fairly quickly in the next couple of days, we've seen that she's just under too much pressure

to stay in.

So, David, what Emily has done is what everybody's been doing all week, which is Barack Obama won this historic victory, this amazing thing.

After this long battle, he won, and we're all talking about Hillary Clinton.

Why is that?

She is carried on with such incredible sense of psychodrama that how could you not it's been

incredibly compelling theater because as you know you put it in your piece this week watching

clintonism come to an end in this disappointing tragic just almost getting the touchdown in

the last second kind of way has been you know it's, it's a better story. I mean, Obama, nothing, Obama hasn't done anything in the past few weeks. He's just been kind of very, very steady and sort of letting, I think he's been, you know, letting the psychodrama occur without him. Yeah, except for losing nine of the last 14 contests, which is added to the drama.

I think that counts is doing nothing.

Yeah.
