Hello and welcome to the Slate Political GabFest for the 10th of November 2010.

I'm John Dickerson with Emily Bazelan to my right, David Plotz, to my left, and we're not in the little closet.

We're in a vast room.

We're in Hutchins Hall in Ann Arbor. The University of Michigan,

we are here thanks to TIA-Craft,

University of Michigan Law School, and

the Davidson Institute at the Ross School

of Business. And we're not here

alone, thank God. We're in

a room full of people who are

now going to prove to you that they are in fact

here by making some

sort of noise. They think they're here for a meeting about a time share in Deer Valley,

All right.

Well, our first topic is going to be politics and the election and the fallout after that,

and with a particular focus on the Rust Belt, Michigan is included in that description.

Then we're going to talk about President Bush, who came back on the scene just

for our show. We thought that was nice. Had to write a book to do it, which is, which was good of him.

And then our third topic will be a coming Supreme Court case that Emily will help us understand

because we don't, David and I. But let's start with our

first topic. You know, if we were to plan a show and where we would want to go, you'd want to go
