the discussion, here's John.

Hello and welcome to the Slate Political Gab Fest. I'm John Dickerson here in Washington at the

slate offices with David Plotz and Emily Bazelon. Today we're going to do a single issue show

just on the room in which we're recording us because our readers have asked for that.

Topic one is politics.

And we're going to start with the fight over Iran, which has erupted or continues to erupt in the

Democratic contest, basically surrounding Hillary Clinton's vote to declare the Iranian National

Guard as a terrorist organization.

The president on Thursday issued the toughest sanctions

against Iran since the 1979 hostage crisis. Is this the first step to war, Emily? And should

Hillary Clinton be penalized and attacked by Obama and Edwards for giving the president, at least

those two claim, kind of an encouragement or

paving the way for war against Iran.

So wait, I've to straighten this out.

I thought that Hillary had gone and figured out a way to be part of a different piece

of legislation that was not authorizing war, that was simply calling the guard a terrorist

group.

Well, she voted for that.

Okay.

But I don't think that they're not authorizing war.
