Hello everyone and welcome to police off the cuff, real crime stories.

I'm your host, retired NYPD, Sergeant Bill Cannon, a 27-year veteran of the NYPD.

So some new goings on in the Luigi Mangione case, his lawyers, and that's on the

right side of this thumbnail is Karen Friedman Agnifalo. His lawyers are seeking dismissal of the

state charges. Now, we've spoken a lot about this case, and right now there's three different entities

trying to take a piece of Luigi Mangione, one being the Manhattan District Attorney's Office,

who have murder first-degree charges as well as terrorism charges.

And then we have the feds, the southern district, the federal government

prosecuting him for murder, but with the death penalty as a potential penalty if he's convicted.

And the third entity, of course, is the Pennsylvania police because he was arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

So his attorney, Karen Friedman Agnifalo, is trying to consolidate these charges.

And the way she would do it is to try and get them to drop the state charges and just go forward

with the federal charges.

Interesting.

You know, interesting.

And I'm going to bring on Mike Geary a little later.

And we're going to discuss the legal ramifications of it and why that they might be doing this.

It definitely will help to consolidate the case and to make it clearer and give a focus to his defense

rather than for them to have to be all over the place and going against three different entities.
